My comment-

I respect the views and wisdom of  H.H Dali Lama.

Santthosh Kumaar:~ Positive or negative conditioning is based on the ego. By replacing conditioning from one conditioning to another will not yield the non-dual truth or Brahman.

The one, which has to be free from conditioning, is not you but the Soul, the Self.  Therefore struggling to get rid of this conditioning as 'you' is of no use.

The Self is not yourself. Yourself is the ego. The real Self is the Soul hidden by the 'I'. The 'I' is present in the form of the universe. The universe is the dualistic illusion or Maya.
Mistaking the Self as yourself is a great error. All the 'I-centric Gurus and their teachings hold the Self as yourself, therefore, they are inadequate and useless to unfold the mystery of the 'I'.
The Self is not within you because the Self is not the body. If the Self is not you, then why you think the Self is within you. Deeper Self-search reveals the fact that you and the world are within the Soul the Self. Perfect understanding and assimilation lead to Advaitic Self-awareness.
Remember:~
You and your positive and negative thoughts, feelings, words and actions, and the world in which you exist belong to the dualistic illusion or Maya.

The dualistic illusion or Maya is experienced as reality due to the ignorance of the 'Self' hidden by the dualistic illusion or Maya.

The dualistic illusion or Maya hides the Soul, the Self. If the ignorance vanishes then the Soul, the Self shines as the ultimate reality or Brahman or God.

The Soul is the perfect master. A Gnani helps the seeker to prepare himself to realize the ‘Self’ hidden by the dualistic illusion or Maya.

A Gnani helps them to mentally move from ignorance to the Advaitic reality. A Gnani directs the ripe seeker to realize the ‘Self’ hidden by the dualistic illusion or Maya.

When a Gnani works untiringly every day with the seekers makes them realize what is the truth and what is the untruth?-which in turn helps the seeker to discriminate between truth and untruth and mentally drop what is not the truth.:

Remember:~

You are not you but consciousness; your body is not the body, but consciousness, the world in which you exist is not the world but consciousness.

Everything that is known, seen, believed, and experienced by you is nothing but consciousness then what else remains, which is not the consciousness.

There is nothing else to realize other than to realize consciousness alone is, everything else is merely an illusion created out of consciousness.

By realizing everything is consciousness is the Advaitic wisdom dawns.

Perfect understanding and assimilation of ‘what is what’ leads to Advaitic awareness.

Without the world, in which you exist God alone exists. When God disappears the world, in which you exist appears. The world, in which you exist disappears God appears. Thus, realize the God to be the Soul.

The Soul is the Self. Thus, the Soul which is present in the form of consciousness is the ultimate truth or Brahman or God in truth.

If you stick to the ultimate truth then the world in which you exist is merely an illusion created out of consciousness. If you realize this truth you will live in this world but not of this world. Thus, consciousness alone is real and eternal. : ~

Therefore, there is a need to trace and recognize, the unconditioned, which is Soul, the Self to overcome all the conditioning.:~Santthosh Kumaar
